The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN):

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), was established in May 1971 as a company limited by guarantee. It was the product of the unification of the Ikeja and Apapa Manufacturers Association at the initiative of industrialists in these two areas and manufacturers in various other industrial centres in the country. The establishment of the association was motivated by the desire to have a focal point of communication and consultation between industry on one hand and the government and the general public on the other. MAN is in the business to create a climate of opinion in this country in which manufacturers can operate efficiently and profitably for the benefit of all. MAN promotes and protects manufacturers collective interest. Its five-pronged objectives includes providing manufacturers all over Nigeria the means of formulating, making known and influencing general policy in regard to industrial, labour, social, legal, training, and technical matters.

Over the years, the association has contributed effectively to governments policy formulation through constructive recommendations and suggestions it has given from time to time. Membership of the association is voluntary and open to manufacturing companies employing not less than 10 persons in permanent establishment. Membership strength now is about 2000.
