Investment opportunities in Borno State

Borno State is rich in both human and material resources. Agriculture is the main occupation involving 80 percent of the population. It is the major source of income of the people of the state as farming, fishing and animal husbandry represent the main agricultural activities in the state.

Among the agricultural products that the state is renowned for are millet, sorghum, wheat, rice, mangoes, citrus fruits, vegetable, gum-Arabic, onions, carrots, groundnuts, berries etc. The state also has some small scale industries either wholly owned or jointly owned with Yobe state.  Among these are- The Soda Ash Plant, Wire and Nail Industry, Neital Shoe Factory, Burnt Bricks, Fish Canning, Fruit Processing and Packaging/Bottling, Gum Arabic Processing, Leather Processing and the Maiduguri International Hotel.

Prospective investors can establish industries in leather and ceramic genre. In addition, the natural resources that abound in the state are limestone, diatomite, gypsum, Natron/trona, iron-ore, feldspar, magnetite, pegmatite and crushed stones. The state has some small - scale industries in the areas of grinding machine, sewing machine, water pumps assembly.
