Mineral Resources

Kaduna State has a number of mineral resources, which include kyanite, kaolin, columbite, gold, quartz, mica, clay, asbestos and graphite. The state government has been working relentlessly to enhance the utmost utilization of all mineral resources available in the state. The availability of these resources has continually aided the growth of the manufacturing sector.

Commerce and Industry

Kaduna State is industrialized. Various commercial organizations operate in the state. Like Lagos, Kaduna is a centre for several business activities. The contribution of the state to the overall growth of the Nigerian economy is very encouraging. Industrial companies in the state include: Federal Super-phosphate Fertilizer Company Limited, Ideal Flour Mills Limited, Northern Nigeria Publishing Company, Kaduna, National Oil and Chemical Company Limited, Refinery and Petro-Chemicals Company Limited. Others are Kaduna Textile Limited, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited (PAN) and Defence Industrial Corporation of Nigeria.

The State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism has been making several rewarding efforts to boost all investment activities in the state in the last one year. Various business incentives have been evolved by the Ministry to attract local and foreign investors.

Tourism

The state has several tourist centers, which generate adequate revenue to governments coffers. The State Tourism Committee, set up in 1982 to promote and develop tourist potentials have been striving hard to boost all operational activities associated with the growth of tourism and hospitality. Tourist centres in the state include Kogoro Hills; Kufena Rocks; Kangim Dam; Emir of Zazzaus (Zaria) palace; the National Museum, Kaduna; the legendary Lord Lugard Foot Bridge at General Hassans Park, Kaduna. St. Batholomews Church Wusasa, Zaria; Zaria Dam; Kamuku Game Reserves, Birnin Gwari, and the Matsirga Water Falls, Kafanchan.
